49ers kicking competition has a leader

Great news! Somebody is leading the 49ers kicking derby between David Akers and Billy Cunduff. Bad news! Jim Harbaugh won’t say who.

From Can Inman:

“We have a leader in the clubhouse and we’ll see how it goes today and tomorrow,” said Harbaugh, without divulging who that leader is.

So, it looks like you’ll just have to use your imagination to guess who between Akers and Cundiff is currently winning this competition of mediocre proportions.

Cundiff was brought on last week to compete with the struggling Akers for the Niners’ kicking job. The battle reportedly moved on Monday to Candlestick Park, where the Niners will host the Packers for Saturday’s divisional round game.

Although he mentioned there was a frontrunner, Harbaugh on Monday also suggested it is “conceivable” he’d keep both kickers on the roster for the Packers game.

Jim Harbaugh: Always there to make life’s toughest decisions.
