The Sharks have finally unveiled their schedule for the lockout-shortened, 48-game 2013 season.
The NHL released its full schedule Saturday night after the players ratified the new CBA earlier in the day. It gave us a chance to confirm (by our count) that the Sharks schedule that leaked earlier on Saturday was correct.
See the schedule here.
Some important dates to note:
- Jan. 20 — season opener in Calgary vs. Flames
- Jan. 24 — home opener vs. Coyotes, kicking off a six-game homestand
- Feb. 19 — in St. Louis vs. Blues. First chance seeing the team that eliminated the Sharks in five games in the first round of the playoffs last season.
- March 14 — vs. Kings in San Jose. First game against the defending Cup champs.

The Sharks’ annual tennis road trip will see them vacate the Bay Area from Feb. 11 through Feb. 23, with stops in Columbus, Nashville, Chicago (twice), St. Louis and Dallas. There is a four-day break between a game against the Blackhawks on Feb. 15 and Blues on Feb. 19, though, and the Sharks are scheduled to return home for a brief respite.
Even if they decide to stay on the road the entire time, the 13-day trip is shorter than last year’s 17-day roadie in which the team won just two of nine games (2-6-1), nearly costing them a playoff spot.
Head coach Todd McLellan has already remarked that he likes this schedule when compared to last season’s second half, when his club had 14 games in February and 17 in March. This season, the Sharks have 12 games in February and 15 in March.
