A’s, George Kottaras agree to 1-year deal

The Oakland A’s and catcher George Kottaras agreed to a one-year contract on Monday, avoiding arbitration.

The A’s acquired Kattaras, 29, from the Brewers in a July trade. He hit .212, six home runs and 19 RBI last season for Oakland, splitting time behind the plate with rookie Derek Morris.

Kattaras’ signing means the A’s now have three players remaining eligible for arbitration—pitcher Jerry Blevins, outfielder/first baseman Brandon Moss and outfielder Seth Smith.
