Michael Crabtree’s lawyer issues statement on sexual assault investigation

News broke late Friday that 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree was being investigated by the SFPD for sexual assault allegations.

On Saturday, his lawyer, Joshua M. Bentley, issued a statement on the case:

“On Friday, January 18, 2013, Michael Crabtree voluntarily met with the San Francisco Police Department and provided a statement. Michael fully cooperated with the inspectors and will continue to do so throughout the investigation. We have confidence in the process. Out of respect and integrity for the process, we have no further comment at this time.”

Crabtree hasn’t been arrested or detained and is expected to play Sunday vs. the Falcons.
