Scott Gomez signed with the Sharks on Wednesday and had already been practicing with the team a handful of days before that. So, the newest Shark has had some time to get to know his new teammates.
I’m sure a lot of it has to do with building chemistry on the ice, such as understanding the tendencies of Tommy Wingels and T.J. Galiardi, his potential mates on the third line. Or maybe Gomez is finally getting in a rhythm with the other guys on the second power play unit, which he is also expected to be part of.
Actually, you know what, let’s just hear from Gomez himself on what he’s learning from this group of Sharks:
“A couple guys use extra lite Ranch. One guy likes his steak really, really cooked. Little stuff like that you don’t expect.”
So, the important stuff.
In other Gomez news, it sounds as if he’ll be making his Sharks debut Saturday at home against the Avalanche. Here’s what Todd McLellan told CSN’s Kevin Kurz on Friday:
“A very good chance we’ll see him tomorrow,” the head coach said. “We’ll get a health update tomorrow on the roster. He had a good practice today. We used him in some different situations in practice, so he should feel a little more comfortable. We’d really like to see what he’s going to do.”
