Jim Harbaugh still wants a penalty for Michael Crabtree interference in Super Bowl

We’ve concluded on this site that the no call on contact between Michael Crabtree and Jimmy Smith on the 49ers final offensive play in the Super Bowl was the right decision. Even Mike Pereira, one of the authoritative voices when it comes to officiating, concurred.

We’re now four days removed from the game, but some people evidently can’t let things go. I’m talking about Jim Harbaugh. Here was Harbaugh in the immediate aftermath of the disputed play:

Thanks, Jim. That was classic you. It was and is still hilarious.

And here he was on Wednesday, speaking with 95.7 The Game, tackling the theory that no call happened because it was at the end of the game:

“I would say it exactly like Bill Polian: A penalty is a penalty no matter when it occurs in a game. It could occur in the first play of the game. It could occur on the last play of the game, or any play in between. That’s the rules of football. You let ‘em play or let ‘em get away with something. Which would you rather have? Let’s play the rules of the game. … If there’s a penalty then it’s a penalty — doesn’t matter what kind of game. … It’s the rules of football. If it’s a penalty, you call it. If you see it, you call it. That’s how I feel about it.”

All righty then.

I was rooting for the niners but I wouldn’t not have call that penalty .What about the hit on Flacco 3 yds out of bounds? that was 15yds late hit and then ravens probably getg a TD instead of FG and 9pt lead not 5pt,can’t overcome that.I would have thrown out Ravens #29 for pushing the ref and 15yd misconduct penalty. So 49ers missed their chances by a hair and really can’t complain just say bummer we screwed up our chance because we were the better team but Ravens made their chances count and we didn’t.Thats why the Lombardi Trophy is so precious
