Klay Thompson, Harrison Barnes drafted by Shaq for Rising Stars Challenge

Klay Thompson and Harrison Barnes will both be part of Team Shaq in next week’s Rising Stars Challenge part of all-star weekend.

Thompson and Barnes were announced last week as part of the initial 18-player pool (Ricky Rubio and Isaiah Thomas were late additions).

On Thursday, Shaq and Charles Barkley held the schoolyard-style draft on TNT for their teams. Thompson was selected seventh overall, Barnes ninth:

Thompson and Barnes join teammates Stephen Curry (3-point Shootout) and David Lee (All-Star Game) as participants during the weekend.

Because Shaq lost last year’s contest, he had the first overall selection, which he used to pick fantastic Blazers rookie point guard Damian Lillard. Anthony Davis of the Hornets went to Charles Barkley second overall.

Here are both squads with each players overall selection, via CSNBA:

Team Shaq:

Damian Lillard (1)
Kyrie Irving (3)
Andre Drummond (5)
Klay Thompson (7)
Harrison Barnes (9)
Chandler Parsons (11)
