The 49ers are now 0-for-4 in re-signing their top free agents after defensive lineman Ricky Jean Francois came to terms Thursday with the Colts.
The deal is reportedly worth $22 million over four years. Jean Francois, 26, will likely be a starter on the Colts’ D-line after being a key reserve for much of his three years in San Francisco.
A starting role opened up for him on the Niners when Isaac Sopoaga signed with Philly on Tuesday. But the chances Jean Francois would return dropped to slim when the Niners signed Glenn Dorsey to a two-year contract on Wednesday.
Now Colts fans will try to figure out if his first name is Ricky Jean or if his last name is Jean Francois.
