The injury bug continues to rear its ugly head at the A’s, particularly the A’s outfield.
The club placed right fielder Josh Reddick on the 15-day DL on Wednesday. He’s been having issues with the right wrist initially injured when he collided with a wall in foul territory in Houston on April 7. He recently received numbing injections before Tuesday’s game in Cleveland, but they did not work.
Taking Reddick’s place on the roster is long-forgotten first baseman Daric Barton, who was called up from Triple-A on Wednesday. First baseman Brandon Moss will move to the outfield in Reddick’s absence.
Reddick makes the third outfielder currently on the DL, along with Coco Crisp and Chris Young, and fourth outfielder this season, including Yoenis Cespedes, who has been back for over a week. Brett Anderson is another key contributor sidelined on the 15-day DL. Jarrod Parker has been experiencing pain in his neck, but Bob Melvin doesn’t expect he’ll be sent to the DL. So, at least there are some A’s players being spared.
