Damon Bruce goes on misogynistic diatribe live on KNBR 1050 (audio) (UPDATE)

The Jonathan Martin-Richie Incognito bullying scandal is the hot story these days. It’s presence in the headlines now has even crossed over from the sports pages and into traditional national news outlets.

On Thursday, Damon Bruce, host of a noontime talk show on the KNBR otherwise reserved for conflicts between Warriors and Giants broadcasts, tackled the Martin-Incognito controversy, so naturally, he used it as a platform to go on a hurgle burgle sexist rant I thought only cavemen were capable of. It… is remarkable, to say this least. Awful Announcing grabbed the audio. A reminder, this actually went on the air:

If you don’t want to spend eight-plus minutes being teleported back to the 1950s, Deadspin was kind enough to make some select transcriptions:

A lot of sports has lost its way, and I’m gonna tell you, part of the reason is because we’ve got women giving us directions. For some of you, this is going to come across as very misogynistic. I don’t care, because I’m very right. […]

I enjoy many of the women’s contributions to the sports—well that’s a lie [laughing]. I can’t even pretend that’s true. There are very few—a small handful—of women who are any good at this at all. That’s the truth. The amount of women talking in sports to the amount of women who have something to say is one of the most disproportionate ratios I’ve ever seen in my life. But here’s a message for all of them…All of this, all of this world of sports, especially the sport of football, has a setting. It’s set to men.

No surprise, this guy is on Incognito’s side.

Here he was Thursday on Twitter not apologizing:

Bruce was back at work on Friday.

UPDATE: Bruce apologized for his remarks at the start of Friday’s show… sort of. We think he’s sorry? Anyway, Bay Area Sports Guy has the full transcript.

H/T everybody
