49ers, Recaps

NaVorro Bowman goes from zero to hero in final moments vs. Falcons

The 49ers were two minutes away from closing out Candlestick Park history with a win, all they had to do was just recover an onside kick, up 3, and run out the clock. Sounds simple enough. Hell, some teams don’t even kick the ball the minimum 10 yards required. But, nope, Matt Bryant Matt Bosher kicked a perfect ball and NaVorro Bowman (a linebacker on the hands team???) whiffed on the ball like Miguel Cabrera on the hot corner, allowing Jason Snelling to show off to cheerleaders with a one-handed recovery that put the Falcons in terrific field position to at least tie the game or perhaps even ruin the Niners’ farewell to Candlestick and spoil their playoff aspirations.

Atlanta advanced the ball all the way to the 10-yard line before a play befitting of the 2013 Falcons transpired. The Niners blitzed up the middle, Tramaine Brock tipped the pass after crashing the slant route, Bowman comes up with the bobbled ball and takes it to the house, forever becoming the answer to a trivia question.

Game over. Drive home safely. Goodbye Candlestick. But, seriously, way to give everyone a heart attack, Niners.
